COMPRESSION STANDARDS SUPPORTED
All files sent via e-mail or FTP should be gathered into a 'Stuffit' or 'Zip' archive. It is important when naming your archive that you use no spaces or non-alphanumeric characters. (RoArk prefers that all support files being submitted with your job be placed into a single archive that includes all fonts and images.)
Stuffit archives can be created using Aladdin's DropStuff Utility available at the Aladdin Systems site: http://www.aladdinsys.com/dropstuff/index.html.
Zip archives can be created using either Aladdin System's DropStuff software http://www.aladdinsys.com/dropstuff/index.html (Mac or PC), or WinZip, which can be downloaded from http://www.winzip.com/download.htm.
GENERAL FILE REQUIREMENTS
1. Include a composite color or black and white laser or color separated black and white lasers of the final document, preferably at 100%. (Please indicate bleed edges.) This will allow us to check our output to the final document. Include color callouts on the lasers.
2. Please include all fonts used in the document. This includes all fonts in placed graphics. Screen and printer fonts must be included in order to process the file, the fonts sent will be used to produce only the document to be processed.
3. Make sure you include all of the placed graphics used in the documents. This includes all Illustrator and FreeHand files as well as any scans which are placed or are to be used in the final printed piece. Quark only identifies those elements placed within Quark, not elements created within Illustrator or FreeHand and then placed within Quark. If the graphics are FreeHand EPS, please include the original FreeHand source file as well as the EPS file used to create it. If using FreeHand 7.0 or later, there is an option for including the FreeHand document.
4. It is a good idea to open the file on the disk being sent and check that all the imports are linked and that none are missing or modified. Update all modified files before saving and make sure it is linking from the disk being sent and not to your hard drive.
5. When producing EPS illustrations which incorporate spot colors, make sure to create a color with the same exact name in either Quark or PageMaker, otherwise it will not separate correctly.
6. When converting images from RGB to CMYK in Photoshop be sure to Set "separation setup" as follows: Separation Type = GCR, Black Generation = Light, Black Ink Limit = 85%, Total Ink Limit = 344%, UCA Amount 0%.
7. When creating images in Photoshop there are two main considerations for placement. If there is outlining involved, save the file as single file Macintosh EPS with binary option, otherwise save as TIFF. Do not use any LZW compression. The mode should be set to CMYK not RGB.
8. When receiving low-res scans from RoArk for placement, do not change the name of the scan, otherwise it will not link to the high-res for final output. For placement, the images can be resized and/or rotated in Quark, PageMaker, etc., (NOT IN PHOTOSHOP). RoArk does not recommend enlargements over 150%.
9. Media supported: CD, DVD+/-R and DVD+/-RW, Zip, External Harddrives
